Lord Nityananda, non-different from Balaram, the foremost associate of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, appeared in Maghi-Shukla-Troyodashi in 1395 Sakabda in Ekchakra, Birbhum, West Bengal, India. His father’s name was Sri Harai Pandit and mother’s name was Padmavati Devi. The purpose of His appearance was to assist Mahaprabhu in propagating Harinaam Sankirtana, the religion of the age of Kali, widely. During his childhood, Lord Nityananda Prabhu used to play Harinama Japa Kirtan and used to act as a character in different pastimes of Lord Krishna, Ramachandra and His other incarnations. After ending His traveling to different pilgrimages till the age of 20, He came into contact with Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu at Sridham Mayapur and the two brothers together flourished the love of Krishna to the entire universe. Being very merciful to the fallen soul, Lord Nityananda, distributes the eternal love of Krishna to all kinds of living entities without justifying any qualities. It is stated that Lord Chaitanya is the reservoir of mercy and Lord Nityananda is the greatest distributor of that precious thing. The appearance day of Lord Nityananda, known as Nityananda Trayodashi, is celebrated in the great procession at ISKCON temples worldwide. As a part of this, ISKCON Swamibag celebrates this occasion very jubilantly with discussing His transcendental glory, the maha-abhishek of Gaura-Nitai , the Harinaam Sankirtana and so on. At noon, a special bhoga (the offering different preperations) is offered to Lord Nityananda and Mahaprasad (the remnants) is distributed among the devotees at the end of bhoga.
